Ford’s Limited Ranger XLT Is the One You’ll Regret Missing

Only 250 exist. One exclusive colour. Leather, attitude, and just enough swagger to upset the parking lot. Ford’s Ranger XLT in Chill Grey isn’t louder or faster… it’s rarer. And that’s exactly the point.

Some bakkies shout. Some bakkies flex. This one just arrives in Chill Grey, looks you dead in the eye, and says… “Ja. I’m limited. Deal with it.”

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has decided that the already-beloved Ranger XLT needed a bit more swagger. Not more power. Not more noise. Just more presence. Enter the limited-edition Ranger XLT in Chill Grey… a colour so exclusive it’s not available on any other Ranger in SA. Not Wildtrak. Not Platinum. Not your neighbour’s double cab with the LED light bar from Temu.

Only 250 units will exist. That’s it. Sneeze and they’re gone. Miss it and you’ll be telling your mates, “Ja no, I almost bought one bru” which is adult code for deep regret.

Now here’s the clever bit. Ford didn’t go mad and slap a ridiculous price tag on it. The Chill Grey XLT comes bundled with Upgrade Pack 6 for R58 600 (VAT included)… meaning you get exclusivity without selling the jet ski, the dog, left kidney or your mother-in-law.

Visually, it’s had a proper gym session. You get a sports bar, black mirrors and door handles, 17-inch alloy sport wheels wrapped in All-Terrain tyres, and underbody protection that says, “Yes, I actually do leave the tar.” It looks tougher, wider, and slightly more intimidating… like a rugby flank who’s discovered some XPN Nutrition fuel packs.

Inside, things get lekker. Leather seats, leather steering wheel, leather gear knob… nothing says “premium bakkie life” like cowhide in places your elbows live. There’s also wireless charging, so your phone doesn’t die halfway through a voice note, and accessory switches ready for spotlights, compressors, fridges, or whatever nonsense your weekend adventures demand.

Safety? Sorted. This XLT comes packing Collision Mitigation, Post Impact Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. In other words, it’s watching the road, the lanes, and that Gym Tannie in her SUV trying to merge like it owns the place.

And then there’s the nerdy stuff… which we secretly love. This Chill Grey exists thanks to Ford’s serious investment in local manufacturing. Their Silverton Paint Shop now includes a robotic skid-cleaning cell blasting skids with 2 500 bar water pressure. That’s not a car wash… that’s a hydraulic pressure washer on pre-workout. Cleaner skids mean better paint alignment, fewer contaminants, and sharper finishes. Add upgraded ovens, inspection tunnels, and improved wax sealing, and suddenly “built in South Africa” sounds very, very world-class.

So what is this Ranger XLT really?
It’s not a new model.
It’s not a gimmick.
It’s a familiar favourite… sharpened, dressed better, and limited enough to make your parking lot rivals quietly seethe.

250 units. One colour. Kla! End of Story. Miss it… and enjoy explaining why yours is “basically the same.”
