It’s official… the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S is doing that thing rock bands do just before retirement. One last tour. Limited tickets. And only the loudest fans get in.
Because South Africa is about to receive the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Final Edition… and only 15 of them. Ja. Fifteen. That’s not a production run… that’s a dinner party.
This, ladies and gents, is AMG taking its most unhinged compact missile, dressing it in black tie, and saying: “Dankie, julle… we’re out.”

Small car. Big attitude. Completely unhinged engine.
Under that sharply pressed four-door coupé suit sits the world’s most powerful series-production four-cylinder turbo engine. A 2.0-litre that produces 310 kW and 500 Nm… which is frankly ridiculous. That’s more power than some old V8s, and it’s built according to AMG’s sacred “one man, one engine” ritual at Affalterbach… meaning one highly caffeinated German assembles the whole thing and then signs it like an artwork.
0–100 km/h? 4.1 seconds.
Top speed? 270 km/h.
Keyboard warriors? Still insisting “it needs more cylinders”.
Power goes through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT-8G gearbox… which swaps ratios faster than a Joburg taxi changes lanes… and then into AMG Performance 4MATIC+, which can send power side-to-side at the rear wheels. Yes, that means Drift Mode. Because AMG knows its customers are grown adults who absolutely won’t behave.

Night Black. Because subtlety is for accountants.
All 15 South African cars come finished in Night Black, which is the colour equivalent of a Bond villain’s tuxedo. On top of that, you get massive “45 S” decals on the doors, yellow AMG logos on the mirrors, and 19-inch forged AMG wheels in matte black… because shiny wheels would be far too polite.
Brake calipers? Gloss black.
Fuel filler cap? Chrome with AMG lettering.
Exhaust tips? Dark chrome… obviously.
Add the AMG Night Package and Night Package II, and suddenly everything that could be shiny… isn’t. Black chrome grille struts, black badges, black accents everywhere. It looks less like a car and more like a threat.

Inside: sporty, dramatic, and aggressively yellow.
The cabin doesn’t whisper… it shouts “Final Edition!” at you every time you climb in.
You get AMG Performance seats wrapped in ARTICO leather and MICROCUT microfibre, stitched in yellow like a highlighter exploded. The headrests are embroidered with “45 S”, there’s a Final Edition badge on the centre console, yellow stitching on the steering wheel, yellow AMG lettering on the trim, illuminated yellow door sills… and even the floor mats are feeling festive.
It’s not subtle.
It’s not calm.
It’s exactly what AMG buyers want.
Price? Brace yourself.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S Final Edition lands in South Africa at
R1,721,234, including VAT and a 5-year / 100,000 km Service and Maintenance Plan.
Expensive? Well Yes.
Exclusive? Extremely.
Future collectible? Absolutely.
Final thought…
This isn’t just the end of a model. It’s the last, loud salute of a four-cylinder that punched way above its weight, embarrassed bigger engines, and terrified traction control systems worldwide.
Fifteen cars. One final bow. Miss it… and you’ll be telling your mates “I could’ve bought one” forever.
