There’s a chair in a studio that has learned one simple truth: nothing and no one is ever the same.

On My Chair is a photographic series built on restraint, not spectacle. The studio never changes. The framing never shifts. The light remains constant. The chair stays exactly where it belongs. Every portrait is captured in black and white, deliberately removing colour so the focus lands where it should. On the person. On their presence. On the story they carry into the room.

What makes the series compelling is its quiet contradiction. The images appear almost identical, yet each one is unmistakably unique. A slight lean forward can speak of hunger or anticipation. Crossed arms may suggest protection, defiance, or simply comfort. A gaze can hold confidence, grief, humour, or resolve. Even silence has texture. Every person brings a lifetime into the same space, and the chair becomes a witness to those differences.

The project began in 2022 in a different studio, during a different chapter of life. Then it paused, not because the story was finished, but because timing matters. Now it returns renewed. A brand-new studio. A new chair. The same uncompromising concept. One environment, endlessly rewritten by the individuals who sit down.

This series isn’t open access. You don’t book it. You don’t apply. Participation comes by invitation or referral only. Not to create distance, but to protect intent. These portraits aren’t performances. They’re moments of trust.

On My Chair exists to prove a simple idea: everyone has a story, even when everything looks the same. Sit down long enough, and the difference becomes impossible to ignore.
